This is what happens when you are convinced the mail is going to crush your toybox.

1. A custom order to CGA before the auction ends for UV protected acrylic case with sliding bottom.

2. An express mailing of said container to buying service in Japan. Buying service forwards to seller.

3. A followup diagram to the seller a of how to pack it properly ( without words to give away my “gaijin” status)

4. Express mail back to the buying service.

5. Additional packing and double boxing at buying service.

6. Mailed to neurotic buyer. ( with a request for preview photos before it is sent.)

Take pills and add water.

Sometimes I love this hobby.

Ozen 15″ Vul Eagle talker from 太陽戦隊サンバルカン, Taiyō Sentai Sun Vulcan from 1981. Probably the largest figure from the show. Five points of articulation and it TALKS. Press the button on his tummy and the magic happens. Similar to the NEW Tetsujin 28 talker, also from 1981, the talk box is exactly the same as the Popy talkers leading one to believe they are close relatives. Hmmmm…

Grip Hurricane Polymar Base –

This one reminds me why I love the Grip toys so much. The gimmicks here are amazing for a toy of this size.

First off, we have the excellent bubble packaging. You can display these little guys in their box and still enjoy the toy within.

Pop those virgin staples to reveal the toy in the box. The detailing is really quite excellent. Check out the fuzzy grass/foilage effect they have applied to the mountain.

Set it on the table to see the base before opening to reveal the hidden structure.

The set comes with 3 tiny diecast metal vehicles and one hero to launch from the top. You can see the garage where the vehicles launch from the spring loaded launcher triggered from the back. Those things really come flying out of there. Watch the eyes!

The top cone comes off to allow the hero to be launched via another spring mechanism. Very cool!

Here is a quick look at the catalog. I’ll try to get this scanned in later so you can check out the whole thing.

The MFVs are, unfortunately, the vinyl robots for me. The Bandai MFVs are the right size to match up against (and really, dominate) the plethora of vinyl kaiju that’s out there, and the chunky sculpts just speak to me. Getter 2 is usually a slender and spindly robot, but this rendition has a little more heft and speaks to a machine that can move, but still take and give a beating, courtesy of that fearsome drill!

This guy is also my first experience with good, proper vintage ‘smell’. The couple of Popy minis I have just don’t have much scent to them, but this guy has more than enough material to really keep a stink in him, and it’s great. Now all he needs are some missiles. Until then, he’s going to have to beat up monsters the old-fashioned way:
