Popy: GA-49 Gonbesu

Here is my Underdog-Bot-Foto-Lovestory. I choose Popy’s Gonbesu
from the Kyodain series, because he really is a special piece of metal.
You love or hate him. If you hate him you could use
him as a cannonball or play boule with him.
You dont know boule? Ask the french…

Thats Gonbesu, Skyzel & Granzel’s buddy. The robotic bowling ball.
I tell you, he’s real heavy. It took a few years till I bought this robot,
because there was  always something else on top of  my “buy list”.
Gonbesu is not very sexy, compared to his two sidekicks Skyzel & Granzel.
But if you hold him in your hand. Hmmm, he’s not that bad.
Why didn’t I buy him earlier…

One of his action features are his “spring-loaded-legs”.

If you open the cover on his front, you find to yellow
buttons. Push them and the “spring-mechanism” of
the legs will be released.

Gonbesu comes with 3 little metal tools.
He could hold them in his magnetic hands.

Welcome to the family Gonbesu!

Sorry for this long Brog for this mediocre robot.

cheers all.

…Gonbesu is searching his buddies. More in the BBS section: http://toyboxdx.com/phorum/read.php?4,201491

Takemi: Apolon Legger Watering Pod

Here is the ultimate watering pod for you!
Now you could water your zen garden with style.

Another absolute must-have for every serious Diapolon collector.
The Apolon Legger watering pod.

Not only a “plastic toy”.
A highly sophisticated design piece with lots of features.
Like 2 movable arms, ergonomic handle on the back and a big hole.
Yeah, you could fill it with water…not much…well…ok…
enough for a small zen garden.

Here are some markings on this Legger.
Looks like Takemi, hope I’m right or I have to rename this BROG.
Didn’t know, till I got this toy, that Takemi made Diapolon stuff.

Here you could see how big this guy is…

Giant BROG for a small toy.
Just found another watering pod robot on Yahoo Japan.
A Diapolon, same style as the Legger.

I won it!….sure…cause I have a big zen garden  ;-)

Bullmark: Apolon Trang BP-25 bling

I got a big parcel from japan.
Part of it is another Bullmark Trang for me. Ok, nobody needs more than one Trang.
Wrong. Its always god having 2 Trangs, 2 Headers & 2 Leggers.
Having 2 sets of Zinclon Diapolons is important!
One set for display and one set for self-defense. If you hit someone
with a BP-25, it could end very bad…

This BROG is a “typical-bling-brog”. Before-and-After polishing
a poor tarnished robot.

Before:

Trang is in good played condition, but his arms….argh.
The old problem.  I dont like these tarnished arms.
But the good thing is, you could easy disassemble them.
Only one screw and a spring inside, that holds the forearms in position.

After: (using silver/aluminium polish-paste as usual)

After a couple of hours polishing and a few beers Trang blings better than new.

So, don’t be afraid disassembling your Trang and make him shiny.

Bullmark: Blazer friction cycle Part 2

Noooooooo, this is not a double-post.  ;-)

Ok, it’s the same Bullmark Blazer friction cycle Mike showed us
in this BROG ( http://toyboxdx.dsri.xyz/brog/?p=1614 ), but I MUST
make this BROG now! Because this toy is so cool.
Beside my vintage japanese robot mania I have a heart for vintage
motorcycles, specially 70ties japanese (who wonders) bikes.
Kawasakis Z, Honda Fours…from time to time a italian beauty…

This Blazer on a Honda CB 750 four is the ultimate “robot-on-bike-toy”
for me. The combination of my favorite robot and vintage Honda heavy metal rocks.

Today finally the summer cames back to germany, after a few rainy weeks.
Time to make some fotos outside…

Broooooaaaaar…high speed Blazer on the Highway to Hell.

It was time to put my Blazer costume on and have a little race against the
little Bullmark cycle. Unfortunately I have to take my CB 500 four. Don’t know
if I have a chance against Blazers’ 750.   ;-)

I won!

Let’s get serious again. The Blazer friction cycle comes in a lovely box with great
Blazer-on-bike pictures. A typicall Bullmark box…did they ever made crappy boxes?!

Here are some shots of the toy. I have seen a few similar Bullmark-Honda-cycles toys with
Ultraman or a Policeman on it.

Some detail shots. There is a “sparkling” mechanism inside the motor.
Looks cool when the the bike is driving and the motor is sparkling.

Another strange action feature is the rocket launcher in
Blazers’ transparent rubber head.

This BROG is for you, Mike.
Thanks man, showing me this great toy!
I’m a lucky bastard, because I found my Blazer cycle only a few months later,
after I had seen it here . It was love on the first sight.

Sorry…but I’m a liar. This was a double-post.

It’s Cloverin’ Time

CROBER!

According to the Center for Disease Control, the first sign of zinc poisoning is usually intestinal distress, followed by a metallic taste in the mouth. I couldn’t agree more. These zinc-alloy Gundam figurines — I hesitate to call them toys — are appalling playthings even by my disturbingly low standards. Yet I felt compelled to force my sister to win them off of ebay for me nonetheless. (Yes, I have sunk this low: I cancelled my ebay account, only to beg bids off of family members. Just shoot me now.)

CROBER, AGAIN!

Released by Clover, the little toy company that tried but never quite “got it” when it came to things Gundam, these all-metal figures represent a pinnacle of sorts, though I can’t tell if it’s a high or a low one. Hell, they even ran out of paint halfway through the run!

NOooo

I desperately want to say something witty here to salvage some pride and wrap this up, but I’ve got to run and gargle to get this metallic taste out of my mouth.

Sakura Zakuraman

I have a heart for underdogs.
Here is a little foto review of the 1977 Sakura Zakuraman.

Let’s see what you get for ca. 50 bucks.

You get a nearly complete diecast robot, a battery and a wonderful box.

The box art is absolute fantastic. Finest vintage japanese graphic design.
I think, it could compete against every Popy box.

Zakuraman has a special action feature. You could put a battery in
“backpack” and his head starts blinking. I think there are no too much
vintage diecast robots with “electrical” features. Nakajimas Groizer X
has a comparable gimmick.

OK. Lights out.
..doesn’t he look cool?!

Another “action feature” is his secret chest cover.
One of the biggest secrets of mankind…why does he have this hidden compartment?

Some detail shots. Z like Zakuraman.

Remember. You could get your own Zakuraman for around $50.
A absolute bargain for such a great toy. Don’t wait too long!
After this review his price will go up  ;-)

Eidei Grip: The Diapolon Gang

Why didn’t I bought these Grips earlier?!
These little guys kick ass!

Shooting fists, rocket Launchers, heavy diecast…
and you even could combine Legger, Trang and Header to a Diapolon!

They are so cool…I’m getting  more and more ecstatic ;-)
The best thing is that you don’t have to pay $1k for them!
Compared to the big brothers from Bullmark, they are a class for themselves.
