When I look at this picture all I can hear is Ian MacKaye chanting:
BIG thanks to Uncle Warren for the MB talker!! UW is hands down the kindest, coolest and most generous person I know in this hobby.. He’s made many of my dreams into reality. I can’t thank him enough! Oh, and thanks to JF who sold UW his MIB MB talker. Enough acronyms/abbreviations for ya?
A great standard sized Bullmark Kaiju originally from Ultra Seven. Measuring in at 9.75 inches. The spray on this one in particular is awesome. Love the metallic blue/green mixed with red. Beautiful. Enjoy.
Finally here, at long long last… 24″ of soft vinyl goodness. On par with the Popy Jumbo. If you can get one I would highly recommend it. Just check out the pics.. How awesome does this thing look??
With the original Popy Jumbo Machinder Tetusjin 28:
Thanks to Robert Duban I have a new holy grail. Every Xmas morn we adorn our Machine Blaster footie jammies and call each other to report on our respective hauls. Well, next year I’ll not only have my jammies, I’ll have my pistolas in tow. It seems every year I digress a little bit more.. Hmmmm…….

Sifu Mike Parisi dropped by the TBDX west coast headquarters tonight with wonderful new years gifts in tow.
Aside from his lovely family, who are above and beyond a gift within themselves, Sifu Parisi brought some big ass guns along with him to our underground secret lair. He surprisingly laid the grand-daddy of inflatables on us, and “we” just don’t what the hell to say.. Only pictures can speak the greatness of his contribution to the vintage Japanese toy inflatable lineage.
Sorry Sanjeev. Not trying to steal your thunder here, but.. Ladies and gents, I give you “Astronave”!!” 38 inches wide..
OK.. Well as you can tell, I have an incredible love of inflatable Japanese robot character toys.. Not like you couldn’t clearly see from my “stash” (pictured above)… Yeah.. I need help. So what?!
Anyway, the “Astronave” is an actual licensed product, as we come to find. Toei Animation Dynamic Production made this behemoth a reality back in 1978.
Ah… To be a child in Rome swimming in a pool the summer of 78 right? Right??? OK, nevermind..
Meet the heavyweight of my collection, weighing in at only 3.5 kg. That’s all.. It must be muscle weight as he’s totally buff:
I’m assuming, the sculpt is very similar to Marmit’s fierce super robot vinyl series much like the Maz and the Grendizer, aside from the screws of course:
Between the sheer heft and ALL the sharp edges, this thing is more a weapon than a toy. Honestly, it really doesn’t do much but sit there and look all menacing and cool, but that’s enough for me. Knowing is half the battle, and knowing I have an 8 pound 17 inch diecast sitting in front of me does wonders. I’ll have to pull out my Mazinger Z Dai Gokin (pictured in Super #1 Robot) and do a side by side at some point but it just seemed like to tall of a task tonight (har har). I’m willing to bet this piece is at least an inch or so taller.
This piece has really helped me understand the phrase “feel the love”. I would have loved to see Marmit do more in this line. A Dangard or Jeeg would have been phenomenal.
Thank you Marc Solondz and Dan Morphy auctions for this killer addition to my collection! Over and out.
Who the hell is Zubat? Well, didn’t know him till I had seen
the Takatoku gokin the first time. What I learned from the
all-knowing-www: Zubat is a 1977 live-action series produced by
Ishimori Shotaro. The plot: Hayakawa Ken, the hero, transforms
into Zubat and kicks ass in his red leather suit. Sounds sexy…the leather suit ;-)
Ok, lets go…here’s the Takatoku Zubat.
Bought mine on ebay a few weeks ago. He was in absolute mint condition till I tried to
fit him into his stand/base with his feet…crack…knack…the feet holders of the
stand broke. C’est la vie…I could glue them, now they look like new again.
Here comes the box. Typicall late 70ties Takatoku stripes & foto design. I like it.
Zubat is stored away in solid styrofoam and comes with his stand, 2 yellow rocket launchers,
a few white rockets and normally with a small Takatoku catalog. The rocket launchers could
be attached on Zubats Base or he could hold them in his hands. Massive firepower!
The quality of Zubat is perfect. Solid diecast body, nice details.
Typical Takatoku. He could easy keep up with Popy chogokins.
Zubat has 2 daggers attached to his belt. Here are some dagger-action-pics.
Another action feature. Rotating Z‘s on his head!
Finally a size comparison with a Takatoku Zabitan and Popy Skyzel.
Thats it guys. If you don’t have one, get one!
Hope you like it. More fotos etc as usual in the BBS section.
