It has been almost a year since I completed my first custom JM,
Garada-K7.
I've been busy since them making duplicates for collectors and working
on my
own "fan-boy" custom creations - so Garada sat on my shelf surrounded
by
heroic robots, biding his time and longing for his tag team partner,
Dabulas-M2 to arrive. His day has come.
I've explained before that while I would love to get my hands on any
one of
Popy's JM villains, it would simply be for bragging rights. They're
cool
toys in their own right but in my opinion, the proportions are too far a
departure
from their heroic JM counterparts (not to mention the inaccuracies in
color
scheme). With my customs, I set out to right these personal qualms
with
villains that match the sleek and fierce design of the other JMs and
come
closer to their anime depictions.
DM2 came together via a Raydeen torso equipped with arms and legs from
a
Dragun. The necks are flexible vacuum cleaner tubes and the leg
spikes and
other adornments are Sculpty. The heads themselves are a combination
of
thin folded plastic ("plasti-gami" if you will) and flexifoam.
Eventually
I'm going to have to give him a proper left fist and will try to work
a
couple of Raydeen torso firing mechanisms into the heads so he can
fire
missiles out of his mouth.
Next up, I think I may like to tackle Kingdan X10 but a JM Big Guy has
also
been in the back of my mind for a while. As always, feel free to
email me
