Umi-Gosh!

This is one of those toys I saw a long time ago and thought: "That
is the
UGLIEST thing I've ever seen. I MUST have it!"
Takatoku's diecast Umi-Bozu from 'Medaman'.
I'm not sure who I think was wolfing down more tabs of
acid - the
producers of the show or the folks at Takatoku who then made the toys
based
on said show.
It took a long time (and some serious internal questionings of my
own
sanity) to actually track one down and buy it but, thanks to some
unlooked
for help from the ever-friendly TBDX community, well, here it is.
It takes a special approach to appreciate this toy. Let me hold
your hand
through this process . . .
Scoot
the brightly colored skateboard back and forth on the
tabletop.
Ponder the tiny, ugly, emotionally ambiguous cohort.
Roll the inexplicable, blue, plastic marble between your
fingertips.
Stroke lovingly the wavy wisps of disturbing yellow hair.
Fondle the pale, waxy, baby-doll arms.
Tenderly press the cool weight of the diecast blue dress against
your
expectant thorax.
Shudder as you slowly pull the inaccurately painted
eyestalks, one
by
one, out to their full extension.
Manipulate the, eerie, white lever in the back of the head in order
to
make Umi say: "reMARKable!"
