CURRENT RUMBLE

Sentai Fever!

03.20.02

Now that Sentai Fever is raging across the TBDX community, I thought I would spread some further misery by rumbling about another toy everyone simply must have. The GD-12 BullTaurus from Gingaman (which also gave us Gingao and the Giga Pheonix).

That's right, it's a bull AND a taurus. It is a big, burly, black and red robot with gold horns and accents that include gold CHAINS. It can only get slightly better than that.

And it does, once you open him up. BullTaurus is a "nesting" robot. A gimmick that I personally love - pull forward on his head, pull to open his back, disengage his pimpin' chains and there's another robot folded up in that barrel-chest.

The Toro robot is nice and sturdy as well as visually grand. It's got a simple transformation, but one that does not fail to impress. You dont just simply reposition his legs and fold down his helmet to get to the bull. Instead you turn the wrists and feet in a clockwork manner in order to retract or extend the fists or to shorten the length of the rear legs. The mechanism has a great feel to it.

The Bull's pilot, when removed from the chest/nest/cockpit is revealed to be very heavy, very poseable and very die-cast. His horns pull down and he's got a cool "action" feaure that will you allow him to make all types of double-armed slashing moves with the BullTaurus's lance.

Slide the Bull's saddle back, mount the rider securely on the bull, put the chain in one hand and the assembled lance in the other and gaze at the sheer "right-ness" of the thing.

It's a robot rider atop a robot bull. Cool!

Note: Steer clear of the U.S. Torozord. The bull has lost his die-cast, as has his rider. The slick gold chains are replaced with yellow string and that there is bullsh*t.
