CURRENT RUMBLE

ot on the heels of the GX-08, Minerva X, GX-09 is in my sweaty little palms. Who would have thought that the once annual production runs of SOCs would turn into a monthly affair. Luckily at the new and improved price point, affordability isn’t an issue. For a mere $36 dollars USD I had Minerva express mailed to me direct from Japan.

In a slew of all Mazinger SOCs, Minerva X is sort of the lame middle child. Not the oldest nor the the baby of the bunch, just ordinary. The Brady Bunch’s ‘Jan’ of the Mazinger family if you will (Hell, I know, that’s a big if). ..Or so I thought...Despite have the least number of gimmicks and accessories, this is still one truly amazing piece of chogokin love.

The same incredible engineering and solid feel that was introduced with Aphrodite dominates every pose and articulated joint of this fine piece. I don’t know, maybe I’m just a sucker for a beautiful robot, especially when she is the female embodiment of Mazinger.

Minerva comes with a recycled Aphrodite Stand, the same balled fists and open hands, and a beautifully enameled almost 100% die-cast body that begs to posed and reposed. With two more Mazinger ladies in the works, it looks as though we are going to have a veritable Gorgeous Ladies Of Mazinger (G.L.O.M.) grudge match on our hands. Only time will tell who will be queen.
