Takatoku VF-1S/GBP Armored Valkyrie "Roy Fokker Special"
Another beaten and sentimental object of power from my youth.
My father brought one back from Tokyo the year they were made.
The Valkyrie + armor box was too large to fit in his suitcase,
so he used a razorblade to slice the outer box in two. Being
not so bright, I was under the impression for many years that
they were two separate toys.
All that remains of the armor is a single shoulder piece.
Head cannons, GU rifle, landing gear, and decals have been
replaced half-a-dozen times to keep this thing going.
(Please take a moment to honour the
Jetfires sacrificed in this noble cause.)
Even on this worn example, you can see how cool the
original Takatoku decal set and markings are. Later Bandai
releases somehow got further and further away from the
distinct military quality of this phenomenal toy.
