TOTD 0167 Micronauti ad – c1980
This stunning Micronauts ad was clipped out of an Italian magazine. Compare to a typical US ad below.

Toy of the Day 0166: Gigan mini figures
Something a little different today. The tallest of these guys is about 2 inches. The one on the far right is a vintage sparker (knock-off?), the rest are modern.

Toy of the Day 0165: Titan Command T451 Jupiter – 1977
Another really cool Titan Command design

Toy of the Day 0164: Perfect Effect PD-01 Robot V2 – 2016
This little guy was designed to fit in with Takara-Tomy’s current Diaclone reboot line. But come on let’s face it, this is supposed to be Robotman/Biotron. The toy is wonderfully articulated and stands about 5″ tall. A still-recent release, that is absolutely not to be missed!

Toy of the Day 0163: Microman Command Car #2 Tyrell Machine – 1977
Like all Command Cars, Tyrell Machine was sold in two versions: either with or without a pack-in figure. The history of the line’s pack-in figures is an interesting one. It goes all the way back to the very first 1974 releases. Takara had yet to dabble in exclusivity however, and it wouldn’t be until late 1979 when they finally crossed that bridge. Sort of. You see each of the pack-in figure Command Cars featured an exclusive helmet, all 4 of them unique. These helmets were not available if you bought the vehicle by itself, and in recent years they (just the helmets alone) have come to command surprising amounts at auction. The one shown here is not supposed to be black, it was painted that way by a previous owner. I really like the look of the black helmet, but I eventually sold this Tyrell Machine upon upgrading to a cleaner one.

Toy of the Day 0162: Micro Hoodman H703 Heimlich – 1978
Just a quickie today to round out the first set of Hoodman figures. These were originally sold with the catalog shown here, which is solely devoted to Hoodman toys with no mention of Microman at all. Later runs of the same figure came with the standard Microman Police Keeper catalog. An even earlier release contained a very rare oversized version of the Hoodman catalog which I’ll try to dig out for next time.
