December 14, 2001 CURRENT RUMBLE Belgas...Grinning Evil Doom Walter Harris Chief Engineer Hell Industries, Tokyo Division 12.14.01 They say idle hands do the work of the devil - yet here I am with hands that won't keep still, proliferating "mechanical brutes" from the mind of Dr. Hell. For some reason (obsession - pursuit of praise) I couldn't shake the feeling that I had one more custom JM in me before the end of the year. After my last rumble featuring the custom Dabulas M2, I pulled a quick poll to see what Kikaiju (JM villains) folks would most like to see - no clear winner rose to the top but it did seem to lean in the direction of characters never produced by Popy. I put my personal longing for Kingdan X10 aside and set my sights on an un-produced villain who would compliment my growing "army of doom machines". Belgas V5 was an easy choice. He sports a killer color scheme, and because his overall design is in the Mazinger family I was able to use a spare Mazinga Shogun I had lying around. I decided to go the extra mile on the chest plate and incorporated a Gaiking missile launcher so BV5 can shoot missiles from the eyes the demonic face shield. If I have enough time on my hands next year, I'd like to try to crank out a few more Kikaiju - ultimately it would be nice to have a shelf full of evil JMs next to the heroes.
