Do we have a thread for this already?
Anyway, I was discussing the naming of cocktails with my friend Caroline and she replied "I'm watching a lot of Star Trek, so you probably wouldn't like anything I came up with."
I, of course, would like anything of the sort, and I immediately thought of this terrible, terrible drink:
the Tholian Web
tequila, grenadine, soda water.
garnish with a Twizzler.
It seems some other people have already come up with their own Tholian Web cocktail:
but I feel that it's way too complicated for for the crude earnestness of classic Trek.

The Mazinger
2oz Famous Grouse blended Scotch (for its pronounced metallic note)
1oz Noilly Prat Sweet Vermouth (because it is red like Mazinger's chest)
.5oz Fernet Branca (because it is black like Mazinger's body and Go Nagai's soul)
Shake with plenty of ice. Strain into a old fashioned glass (because martini glasses are for pussies) of crushed ice (to represent Mazinger's crushed enemies). Top off with a maraschino cherry hover plider.
Imbibe and enjoy....

I likes me a Gingaman and Tonic. Don't judge.

Red Bull? No, don't do that. That's a terrible idea.

The Gingaman and Tonic
In a thick bottomed highball glass with 4 ice cubes combine:
2oz Gordon's Gin (It is good enough for HRH it is good enough for you)
1oz Kirschwasser (Get a good German brand not the sweetened liqueur kind.)
1oz Lemon Lime soda
3oz Tonic Water (I find the Whole Foods brand to be the right amount of bitter)
2 drops of Angostura bitters
1 pickled juniper berry
Stir and enjoy. If you are a girl and like your cocktails sweet cut back on the tonic and add more Lemon Lime. Also, if you are a girl and like you cocktails less potent just drink the sprite and stay home during happy hour....we are drinking in here...
Oh almost forgot...
Red-Kirschwasser
Green and Yellow-Lemon Lime Soda
Pink-Angostura
Blue-juniper berry
and the gin is the rocket fuel that the robot runs on....

Nice! Think I'll go with the Hendricks, though. ;)

Fair point. I should have added that while I love that you went to the effort to make that recipe, I'll actually only also be putting tonic and lime with said Hendricks. My favorite is a local brand called "Aviation".

To be honest, I only make up drinks for others (my wife and friends). For me I follow the advice of my very southern Grandmother we called "Nanny". She said the best drinks only ever have three ingredients and one of them is always cold. Hence the pinnacle of drinking perfection is exemplified with the simplicity of the Martini and Scotch.
Having said that, I still like to experiment with others.
