So the good kind of otaku totally built a full scale Powered Suit from the Japanese edition of Starship Troopers

You need an account to view stuff on Fg-site but it doesn't have a gaijin filter.

Here's some pics

This is so, so, so good.

Too bad it probably weighs at least a half ton, so it won't be able to fight on the bounce. :3

Would have rather he actually painted and finished it. There's no way the book troopers would fight in rusty equipment.

Wow. We need to schedule a faceoff with the life-sized Scopedog.

Well it was said a Powered Suit can take on a tank and win.

Tank w/ legs =/= tank.

It's true. Ever since he got iced on Klendathu the crew's never been the same.
I wish he'd painted it, too. It would look great in olive drab.

They'll just have an egg race. Ain't no way the Scopedog will win at anything that involves holding an egg.

Goes good with the 1:1 SAFS

What other 1/1 scale powered suit mock-ups are out there? There's also that "Dualis Powered Suit" that Kawamori whipped up for Nissan, though that isn't actually based on any previous desing and was sort of a publicity gimmick.

Speak of the devil. Mr. Kurata, the guy who built the 1/1 Scopedog, is at it again. His latest is an all-original robot design that can actually be piloted:

Well Roughnecks was based on the movie and I liked that.

yeah barely

they had some of the basic character concepts and the bug models but it had more book stuff
True, but my point is, this poster doesn't say it will slavishly follow the movies. It could still wind up being as close to the movies as Roughnecks for all we know.

From the blog of Naoyuki Kato, illustrator of the original Japanese cover for Starship Troopers, from whence originates the powered suit design used in the Uchuu no Senshi anime, we have these new redesigns of the powered suit by the man himself.

The latest in his series of powered suit redesigns with something completely different - I'm sure I've seen this before, perhaps on another one of his old novel cover illustrations?
