My Little Brony--What the hell? (aka "Prometheum5's New Fancy" aka "Leg Warmers & Other Wacky Stuff")

Some of you may have already known about this, or may already be members. Good for you.
In any case, credit for the heads-up goes to gingaio's brother, who had mentioned this article as a way of mocking gingaio's toy habit.
And this after I bought him a GX-59, because that was his favorite childhood robot character. Bastard.

I was in a meeting at Hasbro last week and was having a discussion with one of the producers about this. We're as baffled as everyone else. Having loved the PowerPuff girls I may have to check this show out.

My gut is that the appeal has a lot in common with the appeal of Powerpuff Girls, as they both have Faust in common. Her goals on both shows were fairly similar. The visual Fisher-Price appearance of PPG would have caused most to dismiss is as kiddy fare at it's peak as well.
Also My Little Pony has previous successful incarnations and the memory of that in people's minds allows them to form a judgement without having seen this one - and that's somewhat legit, you know. I gotta check this out too.

Wow, I've heard Lauren Faust's name before but I wasn't aware that she was behind the new Ponies show - and, until I just now looked her up, I didn't realize just how central she was in the development of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Now I've got to watch Friendship Is Magic... it just took a huge leap up in credibility for me.

I haven't seen the show and don't entirely understand the fascination, but this image speaks to me.

So, I just watched the first episode in an attempt to figure this shit out, and it all makes sense now. VinceZ, you have GOT to get in on this... it'll blow that Japano-market-centricism hooey out a new asshole, and you'll finally be able to feel.
The truth of the matter is, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is the MOEIEST show that ever moe'd! It follows the tail (see what I did there) of Twilight Sparkle, the purple unicorn pony, who is smart and anti-social, preferring to spend her time at the library or getting to bed early. Her platonic life partner Spike, the baby dragon boy, along with her mentor suggest that Twilight Sparkle needs to get her life together by lightening up and making some friends. It's a real challenge because Twilight thinks she's far superior to the social rubes, cringing at the very thought of talking to another pony about anything other than work.
The whole show is literally moe telling its fans to get a fucking life.
It's amazing... the ponies have the biggest doe-eyes in the history of big eyes, full of expressions like bashfulness, shyness, innocence, and needing an older male guardian. Plus, since they're ponies rendered cutely, 90% of the visuals of the show are that of their rear-ends, which are nigh-indistinguishable from the supple pre-pubescent bottoms of your sacred lolicon. It's clean, wholesome fun with a message. You're all probably masturbating to it already.
Oh, and in the land of Equestria, the Infinity Gems exist, straight out of Marvel Comics.

So, I just finished the second half of the pilot. After being afraid of social atmospheres, Twilight learns the importance and magic of friendship, and then receives a royal decree to party. Rise out of your caves, otaku, and see the light!

Good grief, fellas. I started this thread thinking we'd get a few chuckles out of dudes being into ponies and maybe someone would make a Matt Alt reference (good going Harvey) or something.
The fact that some of you actually watched this show just to...describe and decode the mothersanjeeving hell out of it? WTF?
Clearly you wannabe Bronies missed the satirical point I was making about how...wait, wrong thread.
Sorry.
