It is very cool, I think. Perhaps the queerest of the 4 I have seen, what with all that ooky definition on its back and the distinctly martial looking cap.

The salamander is probably my fave, though.

I told you, Jim - I *am* a toy.

LeMel - whatever you, don't ever let me estimate dimensions: that toy is 11" at best (I have amended the post, too).

As to its production date? I don't know but I'm guessing 70's. Purpose? I can only assume it was made for kids along with the other toys, books, and premiums of the characters at the time. I'd just as easily assume store display if the toys weren't so easily found for sale, which suggests mass-marketing.

And more pics, soon: Lurchi, the fire salamander, is shot and awaiting my time to crop and upload, Mäusepiep, the mouse, and Igelmann, the hedgehog, wait patiently on the case top for their moment in the spotlight.
