Whoa....flashbacks. I had that Frogman and Snow Patrol set.
Anybody remember the Fisher Price Adventure stuff?

I remember having some of the FP space stuff, and deep sea diver...diecast helmet and rubber octopus!

Since we're talking TOTY on another thread, my 1978 toy bought in 2010 TOTY is this.

The skydiver was a staple of my childhood that was my go-to toy for when we went someplace outdoors. I bought a MIB one this past year and it's a great piece of personal nostalgia.

HEY! Stop derailing a conversation about the magnificent Matchbox MAC line into fawning over those bastardized FP Adventure People! MY TOLERANCE ENDS HERE.
MAC was brilliant. RESPECT. At some point, they changed the size (from small to a slightly bigger, muscled sculpt) so that may account for construction differences in your friend's specimen to some common photos seen online.
Years ago right here on TBDX I posted asking folks to help me identify this memory from long ago - I don't remember succeeding, as, yes, that thread too got derailed in adventure people fawning. I believe that MAC's were the first comprehensive small-scale articulated action figures introduced into the US market, as they would have hit the market somewhere between 73 and 74, with Micronauts coming in 76 or 77, and of course Kenner finally defining the market in late 77. There was a UK knock-off line called Action Jack with playsets as well. MAC HAD WAIST JOINT.
I have a curious backstory with these critters - they've haunted me my whole life, yet I've still not managed to score a single one. Boy, that's a whole other subject - childhood toys that still haunt you. A particular tin (the only tin in my life in fact) comes to mind.

An large airliner with a multi-action routine and a clear fuselage where you can see a tiny stewardess that walks up and down the aisle.
