Fuck yeah!
Can't wait to see how Kaiju World Wars turns out (I love boardgamegeek's reviews). Looks dope. We're SO playing this! :P

Huh. Hadn't heard of the Voltron game until now. Gathering dust? Well, you could do worse than 7.65 on BoardGameGeek!

Not to get too OT, but I'm pretty sure the Monsterpocolypse Voltron expansion's biggest problem was that it came out kinda long after its announcement buzz had cooled and Mpoc had settled down to just the diehard crowd, which I believe is strong but not huge. The figures look decent.

Some new teaser pics about the game.
The mini's look straight. Final Wars suits...I don't mind that, but I definitely hope they come out with showa- and heisei-era stuff.
Oh, and it would help if the game didn't suck. ;)

So, like, it's out. I'm looking into getting a set...but I'm reading a bunch of ambivalent reviews. Most folks say they're enjoying playing it because the combat is pretty easy to understand, it's fast paced, the energy/life/destruction point systems are fair and make sense, and with the "random events" at the end of each turn, it adds that unpredictability the movie battles often offer.
The biggest problem seems to be that the rules get really convoluted due to piss-poor documentation: there's apparently a super-shitty rulebook that looks like it was photocopied at the last minute...and there are quick-reference cards containing sometimes-conflicting info. You probably shouldn't *need* quick-reference cards if your damn rulebook was clear in the first place.
Still, most reviewers are content with "house-ruling" a lot of the minor shit. I, for instance, intend to make it a drinking game somehow.
The other major gripe is that while the mini's look dope (well, Rodan has trouble standing--but ultimately, they can all be replaced by any number of gashapon), the other board accessories kinda blow. The stackable buildings are kinda meh because they're kinda fiddly...and when you flip them over to represent a destroyed building, it's almost impossible to stand a kaiju figure on top of it. Also, the military is represented by stupid cardboard tiles. Lame.
To workaround those problems, I'll probably Shapeways up some tanks and maser cannons to replace the cards. Ironically, they shoulda used cardboard tiles to represent destroyed buildings. Another easily-fixed issue though.
The good news is that there seems to be pretty solid online support for the game. Say what you will about their products, but Toy Vault has been around for a LONG damn time making a wide variety of Godzilla goods for the US market, and that bodes well for the future of the line. 'Cause that the thing: this is intended to be a line of games. That's nothing new to gamers, of course, because expansion packs with new scenarios and whatnot are pretty commonplace. Well, future expansions to KWW will include, naturally, more kaiju, different landscapes to demolish, and tweaked/enhanced rules.
I'm pretty psyched. Before throwing down, I'm busy reading up on various systems of fan-made replacement rules online...'cause I'm a nerd like that! :P

Hate to say it out loud, but given the bevy of gaming supplies and high quality miniature Zilla' figures, why not import a compatible battle system over and just go at it?
Of course, I was also blown away by people who blew thousands of dollars on hero clix and that type of stuff...DUDE, you could have bought all ORIGINAL MEGO toys to play with for that amount of scratch. I understand the game was the draw, but when you look at how a box of those goes for five bucks at a garage sale now, what were you paying for???
As far as drinking games for this...? I got zip...nada...nothing at all funny coming to mind...too much stress from NATO being in town I guess.

OHO Boy! Kaiju-Robot-Bowling-Nachos'N'40's-Drinkin-Smashing-Game! The next Summit is sure to be a hootnanny! =0p I'll need a comfy supportive lawn chair for this one.
Gub'mnt vehicles? Those wee little mazers in the mini-playsets discussed in that other thread might work good? I'm sure there's bunches to be had from model kits and so on too.
Getting the rule basics, and then just enjoying it with filler house rules sounds just fine.

I'm with you, Adam. The first thing I thought when I was reading all this stuff was how I/we could adapt the game to ST vinyls! :P When I came to my senses and realized that you'd need a fucking backyard to contain an ST-scale version of the game, I thought of the Iwakura "Bullmark Legends" figures (and obviously the billions of gashapon out there). People are already writing rules for other kaiju (Mothra and Mechagodzilla stats have been posted online)...but I think the appeal of actually throwing down for the game is the board (and to a lesser extent, the buildings).
I think without the board, it'd probably be a lot more cumbersome to measure out all the distances and resolve movement/ranged attacks and whatnot. Sure, you could make your own board...but I like the quality of the construction and artwork on the stock one. And I guess at the end of the day, I'd like to support Toy Vault for making such a crazy thing in the first place! But like I said, I'm hardly averse to custom pimping something like this. F'rinstance, I saw that someone posted papercraft buildings of varying heights (and styles!) to replace the meh stock plastic tiles. That sounds like an indispensable upgrade.
Haha...Jon, you read my mind, brother! But I think "game night" (with the requisite 40's, blunts, and nachos) is a casual Friday/Saturday night thing with whoever's around--not really a Summit activity. When you have THAT many people--some from other countries!--I'd rather be the social butterfly I normally am (read: beer-swilling and incapable of shutting up or resisting hugging people)! Anyway, I'd rather Shapeshit the mazers myself. I'm sure I can make cooler stuff than the Trendmasters minis...plus, we're gonna need LOTS of 'em! Which reminds me, there was another sweet upgrade someone posted about working in attack aircraft and anti-aerial-kaiju artillery! So...plenty of custom parts are in order...along with flying bases, markers, fire indicators, nuclear indicators, and other bits from Litko!

Well, part of the satisfaction is having every Marvel and DC character ever IN SCALE, including Sentinels AND Master Mold, Nemesis, Ultimo, Starro, Mole Man's Giganto, a giant Spectre, and all that. (Plus, throw in the Marvel Universe Galactus action figure, and you're starting to get the planet-eater somewhere close to an accurate scale...)
Granted, the actual value of individual pieces for their gameplay functions can get in the way of collecting them for aesthetics. But there are still plenty of people who play the game and collect the figures and seem pretty happy just having a microcosm of the big two comics universes to fight out battles in.
(Edited to add a funnier list of giant villains)
