It's my birthday and I'll cry if I Wontiger

So a few of you guys on the facebook know its my birthday, cept Sanjeev who is terrified of technology. But that's not the point. Point is I'm old and pissy and I work in a factory. My MA in art/graphic design doesn't mean shit and that may never change. I don't drink, smoke or do the drugs so I can't drown myself in stimulants to forget I'm a day closer to death. So what can I do? Wreck my wallet.
I spoke to Jon a bit ago about focus in one's collecting. Many tears and laughs were shared and I came to the conclusion that Sentai toys are going to be for sure, for realZ, for serious the focus of most of my future purchases. The above mentioned oldie rage was a good excuse to buy my first step in that journey. Wontiger. Or as you kids in the west call it, the White Tiger Zord. I still remember talking with a fellow classmate in the 7th grade about the disappearance of Tommy and the sudden mysterious events in the command center. Then outta nowhere BAM! white ranger fucking shit up with his talking sword and tiger mech! It was magical.
Even though I only owned one PR figure growing up, I always thought highly of integration of interesting forms (OhRanger immediately comes to mind) and how overall fun they toys looked. I was in high school during this time and I rarely bought any toys since I felt I was too old for that nonsense. I appreciated them nonetheless. It's only fitting I travel back and time and start with a toy I always wanted.
Anyone else have a similar experience?

Only every time I bid on something mom and pops didn't buy for me, from the "import robot aisle" of the '80s TRU.
Happy birthday, man.

Usually, when I think of "Kentucky", and,"distilling", something besides toy collecting comes to mind...mmmmmmm! ;0p
Hey, when did you turn into an old curmudgeon?! Sheesh. Oh well, welcome to the club, pay your annual dues to hillsy at the front desk.
And seriously, it was your own decision to turn down that sweet older Southern Belle's offer to "keep" you for a while. That woulda' tightened up your focus. But noooo, off to the salt mines!
If you get that Tiger thingamajig, post up!

I was hoping this was going to be another robot name pun thread.
like "Should I Stay Or Should I Govarian"
or "Hip To Be Srungle".
That's not really a pun, it's just the squarest robot (in both senses of the word) this side of Lightan.
Anyway, happy tigerday and good hunting.

First off, happy birthday! Very auspicious week.
Now, "similar experience" in that I wreck my wallet when life's whooping my ass? Mmm...not really. I only tend to wreck my wallet when there's something in it...which isn't ALL that often these days! :P
Besides, I have fewer qualms about those other fun addictive things out there than most folks do. Heh.
Or did you mean "similar experience" in that I watched Power Rangers and want/wanted the toys? Well, I was amazed that the show(s) came to the States when it first aired, but I never really watched it much or got into the toys. I do, however, absolutely love sentai toys in general. Big, chunky, and DXy through and through.
Enjoy the new focus, man!!
P.S. check your fucking e-mail, man (and reply!).

Similar experience in "life sucks, I'mma buy sumthin". I'm really careful with my money so I tend to only drop cash when I'm really down. Then I'm all "woo! plastic!" and I'm good for a while. Like that occasional heroin fix.
PS I did check my email but I've had a 50 hour week and not had time to formally reply. :P

It's not that often that I can drown my sorrows in toys - more often when I'm depressed, I just want to stay home all day with passive entertainment. But when I do feel like I need a toy to cheer me up, I usually get some TFs at TRU. I love TF engineering, so I don't usually regret it, except when I buy some stupid repaint just because it's a new repaint. Weirdly, I think I've recently substituted used-book-shopping for American toy crack...
Also I find that a sure-fire cheerer-upper is the delayed effect from buying a toy that I know I'll want someday, which I only purchased at the time because it was on sale. Then eventually I'll be mopey and bored and I'll go through the Box of Never-Unboxed Toys and have this "OH MY GOD, I HAVE ONE OF THESE?" reaction.

By the way, I have so much sympathy for this. I studied graphic design, now I work on websites, and the thing I've learned the most over the course of my pseudo-career is that I should've quit art school earlier, studied something useful like web application programming, and let the creative side take care of itself.
