I got my kitschy LED watch for $25 at the Fossil outlet. MUCH more unreadable, especially in daylight, than one I'd pay $250 for.

The PDF for the LED Bar watch is a good read. Apparently it takes 15 seconds to tell the time. Hours lines first for 5 sec, 10 min lines for 5 sec, then single min lines for 5 seconds. Brilliant.

Eh, I would wager anyone buying this probably isn't all that concerned about telling time, anyways.

It's not a tokyoflash but if these were being mass produced and sold you betcha I'd have one strapped on my wrist in a flash: [www.youtube.com]

I'll probably get snarked for this, but this is my favorite watch.

I own two of them (one black and one dark wood grain). I get compliments all the time.

Shit...it may be expensive, but at least this one has numbers, Scopedog. That's a bit of a prerequisite for me, being only one step ahead of the monkey on the evolutionary trail.

My wrist is like the rest of me....seldom nude. I love watches. It's still so natural for me to check my wrist before digging out my mobile. They look....classic. Then again, I'm old. Probably the younger folks who wear them do so as an accessory.

And Sanjeev...I should have clarified....numbers and/or a dial with notches.

Whoops, I still gotta stop the laziness, and photo my watch.
But here's a cooooool archive of the TOKIMA watch robos. I got the top one.
The bottom steam-punkish one I gotta get too! Love 'em.

You folks and your fancy shmancy digital wristwatches. I'll stick with my old school pocket watch, thank you very much.
Seriously though, I'd love to wear a proper wrist watch, but the metal backings used on most watches cause my skin to break out. If I could get one of those Tokyo Flash watches with a plastic backing, I'd be all over 'em.

Nice! We just finished 8.
Oh, you and your wrist were in that episode? Only thing I noticed was a "Miss Universe Japan 2007 finalist" throwing back Denki Bran and Hoppy..........

Hiroko has excellent taste- and congratulations on your anniversary! She may have chosen the gift a little too well because from my experience Rotologs draw women's attention. :)

Lost the habit of wearing a watch years ago, due to work, but still like looking at pictures, for suiting up days.

Strangely, a lot of these expensive unreadable watches are available, often for less than $10, with free shipping from this HK online store:

Not sure if they're stolen, or knockoffs, or if the quality is comparable to the "real" version. I ordered some solar-powered Jeep toys earlier in the year, and aside from the use of a shipping envelope vice box and the flimsy packaging of the toys themselves, the quality of construction, casting, and paint on the Jeeps was respectable especially for the price and considering the free shipping.

How's the quality? Is it based on a more expensive designer watch? If so, do you have an original to compare it to? I'm tempted to buy the first watch in my post since I'm partial to bracelet-like watches.
