this one comes right before lambda machine.
rumour has it thats its due to be out sooner than the jumbo stormtrooper !
Sanjeev (Admin)
Ouch.

C'mon, man! :P
Matt if you're building a jumbo, I'll totally buy one. Will his head be full of water? Maybe a goldfish living in his tummy with a lil scuba samurai?
yokai jumbo machinders is an awsome idea . put me down for the nine tailed fox .dont worry sanjeev , brian has a good sense of humour .
Sanjeev (Admin)
What's that yokai with the HUGE nutsack? Yeah... I want that one! Fuck the stormtrooper! ;)
Tanuki?
Sweet!

Will it have articulated hips for "bowing action"? `Removable skin? THREE ANUSES????

Whenever I think of bad-ass kappa, I think of the Tortoise Lord from the "Action 3 Kaijin Set" that went with the Kamen Rider Agito Souchaku Henshin figures.

They made a Transformers of it!

will you also omit the wheels on the bottom of the feet like S7 did? You should make this Robot factory style so you can mix and match add on parts to make other yokai....
There's going to be a launcher in the chest that shoots cucumber slices.

Sanjeev, are you thinking of a Tanuki? If so, those aren't yokai, they're based on real animals that live in Japan.
They're in Matt's book as Yokai.

More serious than thou
If only I had my copy... ;p
hmmmm...i didnt notice any wheels on matts sketch or missle tabs on the legs . then of course it doesnt have a head either . im sure these minor issues will be worked out before production . if anybody reading this has any intrest in yokai i would strongly suggest matts book .

Holy fucking shit! It passed the toy standard test?! BUT IT EATS PEOPLES ASSHOLES TO DEATH!! Gotta own one.
MattAlt (Admin)
My god, it's full of cucumbers....

[toyboxdx.com]
Oh wow. Holy excellence! That's most awesome.
My. GOD. I'm almost in tears at the awesome of that. Really. You have have something god-like there. And it begs to be made for peoples to own. Hope some company sees it and makes that happen. That's innovative and fresh as hell.
Matt, that is one of the most phenominal things I've ever seen! WOW!! And the box art is truly amazing. Man, I'd love to see this in person!

More proof that creating is better than consuming any day of the week.

Cheers, Matt and Co - I love it!

dude.....amazing... funny you used vacu-formed plastic for this, that's the same process I was using for that Getter 1 that would separate into the 3 getter machines jumbo I was working on wayyyy back when.....my hat's off to you and everyone involved in making that thing sir Alt.

In absolute agreement with Corey.

I am utterly speechless at the awesomeness of that....and utterly dejected that I'll likely never have one! ;)
Very cool... I love the write-up taking us from vision to execution to product. It's always awesome to see someone take an idea from their head and get to realize it. The design is also top-notch, and the accessories are awesome.

I make 3D printed mecha action figures.
Heres a thought for Matt. Say toyboxdx posters (joshb, fraser, sanjeev, etc the whole shebang) assembled a sketchbook of ideas, sent it to you and you claimed it as your own work. Could you get you get our ideas made by badass makers of things? Just a thought. A theory if you will. That maybe. That'd rock a whole bunch. Not that you'd do it. Yknow. *starts drawing* :P
Man, what a disappointment. The concept sketches looked so much better than the finished product. I don't see one anus, never mind 3. FAIL.

(ps--Can I have that?)

Congratulations on one awesome piece of work. Just beautiful! Now someone mass produce it.
What does the back of the Kappa Machine look like?
son....of....a .......bitch !!!! you did it . you really did it .
MattAlt (Admin)
Thanks guys!!! Seeing this happen was an incredibly lucky confluence of fate for me. Unfortunately it's insanely time- and materials- intensive to make these on any sort of regular basis; the materials cost alone (not counting any of the labor or time or the machine rental, which we only got to use for free this time because Marugame's company was moving) was well over $500. Lord knows what it'd be if we'd actually factored in the cost of our time...

Ah, the back! Totally forgot it in my haste to get the article posted. Here it is....

(We initially wanted to do a more complex pattern on the shell, but there's never enough time to do everything exactly how you want it...)
Sanjeev (Admin)
Magnetic cucumber katana rocks!
Nah, less is more. I think the back looks ok as is. You've got enough detail with the spots on the back of the arms and the cuke.

Say. After the Kappa show ythink you could maybe make a mock video review of Kappa Machine? I'd love to see size comparisons and features on the live. This might be asking a bit much but I'm wholy impressed and enthralled with your creation.
How did I miss this?!

That is great! Nice job sir.

Matthewalt "I actually kinda LIKE that approach! You know: let's make a TOY. Remember those? Products designed to be played with without breaking? DO YOU REMEMBER, LOVE?!"
Ha! Probably so. Life is kinda random on Vicodin.

My advice: Don't break your clavicle!

Unfortunately I'm not really set up to do video reviews, but I hope to do some comparison shots of it with other Machinders one of these days. Now that the show's done and I have it here with me, I can take better pics of anything people want to see.
