BT-01 Smokescreen Re-color

Sideswipe looks dead on as an up to date version orf the origional. Do you think Takara will do a mokescreen in the classic red, white and blue like the origional?I want Smokescreen but CAN'T decide between the #7 or #8. Knowing my luck I'll get one and then there will be a classic re-color.

P.s. Why smoke screen? He was at best a secondary character. A bit player on the TV show and a re-color as a toy? Just wondering if anyone knew?

To show how my luck runs I was one of the (LUCKY) people who was able to get the Timehouse Optimus Prime. You remember the 12' piece of plastic that sold all day for $300.00. now I think they run for about $28.00. Who knows this might be one of those obscure toys that collectors search for in $20 years or so.
Go with number 7, if you're going to import. The domestic version won't be available until later this year, and he's got little piggie heads on his mirrors.

I don't think he was ever really a huge player on the show, but I think he was second in command of the Autobots, so that's something. It may just be that the designer thought the look of the character and the transformation fit the Imprezza well.

Congrats on grabbing the Timehouse Op - can I ask how much you got him for? He may well turn out to be a rarer figure in the future, and he certainly won't go for as cheap as he is these days (given that most of the people in the market for a big, cartoon accurate, robot mode Op are going for MP Prime).

Oh I paid the whole "bend over and take it." $300.00 plus about $30.00 to ship it in from overseas.
I've had it for about 2 years now so I guess I can't complain. I don't remember where or by whom I got it. There are two versions the "Anime accurate" and the metalic. Both have their strong points. If I could have the best of both worlds I'd have a combination of both. Metalic red with the white legs. For some reason the metalic silver looks cheap. The anime colors cheme is much rarer and if you can find one with the laser axe you have struck gold! I think there was only like a 100 of them or so.

Actually who was second in charge really depended on where you were on the show.

Generally it was accepted that "Ironhide" was second in command but he and Prime were like old war buddies.

Second in command from strictly a officer talking to his #2 was Jazz.

The movie had Ultra Magnus as the obvious #2. Kupp was up there too, but I think he was considered almost ready to retire.

The origional toyline made Prowl the second in command and there was a few times on the show where you could see that Prowl was up there in the ranks. (That's probable where you got the smokescreen idea.) I think Smokescreen was only on 2 episodes. You could always tell on the show when there was a new line of toys out.
Ouch, $300? Yeah, sounds like a "bend over and take it" price. Still, he should be one of the rarer Prime molds a few years down the road.

Shoot, you're right. I was thinking Prowl*. Autobot command structure seemed to be fairly vague for most of the caroon anyways (standard milliary procedure for an 80's Saturday morning toon). Hmmm... Going to have to stick with my earlier idea that the designer thought the look and transformation of the character suited the car. That or he really liked the original Smokescreen character for some odd reason.. You know that if Furman was running the toyline, Grimlock would be the first toy out.

*Prowl really needs to be in the Alternators line, come to think of it.

Do they have Police vehicles based on the Suburu car? Or do you mean that an all new mold should be made for Prowl? As for me, i want to see Wheeljack and Mirage get updated in the BT line.

I asked if I have "Time For L-Gaim" but I got "No Reply From The Wind".
"Go with number 7, if you're going to import"

What's the difference between 7 & 8 (besides the number/driver name) ?

The character/name "Smokescreen" played a much larger role in Transformers Armada.

An all new mold would be pretty nifty, but I would settle for a recolmold if it was altered enough to look like a passable police car. Wheeljack and Mirage both deserve new toys (Wheeljack more than Mirage, if I had to pick one). I also want to see new versions of Ironhide and Ratched something fierce.

Different decals, mostly. I think some of the sponsors might be different, but I'm not sure. Really, if you're going to go to the expense of importing the BT version, I say go for the variation that won't be out in the US for a while.

Plus, the piggies.

Yeah, but that Smokescreen was a construction vehicle... Which makes no frickin' sense, so he doesn't count. I heard his death scene was cool, though.
BT-03 Streak will be released in Japan March 25.
