FYI: TFSource billing info compromised

Just putting this up here, since some of us have probably done business with TFSource.

Some people that have stored their CC info with TFSource have seen unauthorized charges against their accounts. I don't know if these are just the CCs stored on the billing accounts or all CCs processed through TFSource generally (32 page thread).

Sheesh. I've bought something from them once, but it appears I never created an account, so it is unlikely that they have any credit card info of mine. Still, worth a check on the old cards...

OK, folks, check your cards! I've got three $1 charges pending on mine right now. The person I spoke to on the phone said that this is fairly typical as it's kind of a "sounding out" method to find out if a card number is valid or not.

Call your card company right away if you see such charges on your card and have them block the card number and issue you a new card.

A bit off topic, if you're worried about this stopping any recurrent charges that you might have going to that card (such as Netflix, your cable bill, or cell phone bill for example), it's likely that your card company will still allow those charges through to the account for a period of time after the card is blocked. At least that's what my card company does...

Well, I suspect it's the company behind TFSource, and supposedly behind many other online retailers. If so, then any retailer you did business with that uses this company is in the same boat.
