That's pretty cool, it fits in MP-04's trailer. So now that trailer is good for something other than collecting dust.

I got one of these for Christmas, I'll have a review in a day or so. It's cool, but not really $50 cool.

Isn't roller just an extra part of Prime? I thought that Prime controlled 3 pieces. His robot mode, trailer and Roller. That's why on the series they had to hit all three with some type of disabling bug,
If this is true then wouldn't Battle Roller just be Optimus Prime in a little body?
Nerd rumor:
I was always told that the reason that OP was brought back was that his other two componets (roller and the trailer) were not damaged in the fight with Megatron and the two parts kept part of Optimu's spark keeping him from actually being completely dead. Battle Roller would make a good argument for that.
I like the concept but I wish the vehicle mode looked just like the regular roller. This one has a spider quality that doesn't sit right with me and yes I would agree that it came right from Michael Bay's central casting.

They were part of Prime, but Roller, at least, had somewhat of his own identity.
Not sure who told you that, but I don't remember ever hearing that... and neither roller nor the old OP trailer ever came back from hyperspace or wherever they went (along with the other 90% of autobots and decepticons missing from the movie). He was brought back because
a) Rodimus was crap
b) They needed to sell more toys (ironically the same reason he was "killed" in the first place)

Didn't the concept of the spark not come along till Beast Wars?

Yes, wiki say that you are correct.
[en.wikipedia.org])
"Throughout the original Marvel Comics Transformers series, there were references to similar concepts such as the "spark of life" or "life spark," while the animated series spoke of "cybernetic personalities" as the source of a Transformers' life, bestowed by the mega-computer Vector Sigma"
"Beast Wars animated series which truly introduced "the Spark" as it is now known today."
