The Classics seeker mold is probably my favorite Transformer of all time. It's utterly a toy: colorful, durable, and fun to play with. It totally evokes pleasant memories of my childhood toy collection.

I preordered Thrust and Dirge from Celga so I paid retail price plus markup rather than scalper's prices. These sets are like $170-$200 at Franks and Sons.

Update on my Ganbo Gentei! Thrust. I made holes on the legs so the wings can look more G1-style. The wings can be positioned in front or behind the rear stabilizers and they impede posability somewhat either way, but I think he looks a lot better. He can still transform perfectly by moving the wings back to the normal slot.

Hmm...
I feel a shameful sort of desire when I see these.
Per the bio written by Furman, they are essentially Sliders in the Jerry O'Connell sense of the word. I can't begin to describe how happy that sort of thing makes me.

Don't bother getting the Encore Bruticus. From what I've read, the molding on it is quite poor and they didn't put back the diecast like with Predaking. You may recall that the original release of Bruticus did indeed have a little diecast but was taken out (like how Hot Rod and Predaking had releases that first had diecast then they didn't but did have metal content kept in their reissue releases). It'd probablly better just to get one of the billion repaints the guy had over the years than this.

Daniel, what the fuck are these!?
Are they reissues??? Crazy! I find the proportions and chrome weapons most-alluring...

Just received Encore Omega Supreme today (a bit of selling gave me some cash). BBTS had it on clearance for 70+ bucks. I never owned this guy when I was a kid though my brother had him (I had Trypticon, while my other brother had Scorponok). I forgot what a great toy this thing is. It's basically a Transformers train set with more to it. My kids will have a grand time with this guy!

The commemorative edition Insecticons are out, I also saw Percepter too. $30 for all three Insecticons isn't too bad. I passed on Percepter.

I read they took out the metal in the Insecticons. Confirmation?
I already have them when they were reissued several years ago. I may get Perceptor though.

Got Perceptor today. Nice quality. Has all the metal and chrome the original did. The missiles don't fire. The spring was taken out and due to this the missiles just fall out of the launcher, although luck would have that one of the missiles had just enough flash on the side that it'll stay in the launcher.
Sad that there was pretty much nothing else I wanted at TRU.

Ok, waitaminit..just unboxed the Insecticons. Beatiful, and yes, the front half of the chests are metal just like G1, but...
I guess in our war-torn, PC, time period, names like Bombshell, and Shrapnel, are no-nos, so they've been renamed as Hardshell, and Sharpshot, Kickback is the same. Grrrrr... Oh well.

More likely that they lost the rights to the names.
Considered picking them up, but I have the Japanese release from a few years ago, and in comparison Perceptor seems like a rip off (three insecticons or Perceptor?). Of course, I already have a Soundwave reissue and still picked up that con-exclusive one.
Also didn't know that Walmart was getting some Ultra recolor exclusives, which includes a Classics Powerglide in red. Tempting.

Huh. Do you know if it will be identical to the Japanese red release or if it will be different from that?

The new US red Powerglide isn't in the same color scheme as the Henkei, and it looks awful.

Dammit. I've never really been into any of the TF reissues. I didn't have many as a kid, and by 1985-86 was too old for toys. I went to TRU to check out the AstroBoy toys (not impressed...don't like the head sculpt) and saw a solitary TF I DID recognize - Perceptor. For some reason, I was compelled to buy it. I'm glad I did...it's pretty damn cool. Bummed there is no firing mechanism, but it's a sturdy little toy. I now am compelled to pick up the Soundwave.
