jet jaguar loving

By the way...checked out the site just now and read this for the first time...

“ The feeling I get from working on a painting, is just like scoring a rare toy, “ he says with a big grin.

(Mark, I know EXACTLY what you mean.)

Illustration/oil painting and japanese toys.....give me the same freakish smile

rock on.

Josh
" freakish smile "

Oh ya ... !

I've been wearing that smile on my face since last week when my "holy grail " arrived from japan. (see [www.ultramantoys.com] )

Toy Karma was working full force on this one...which I will write about in my next Super7 editorial...one thing that freaked me out was I asked the person helping to buy this for me to declare on the EMS form the FULL amount of this toy....when it arrived I looked at what was declared... $50.00 US dollars...my eyes bugged...it was missing 2 zeroes !!!!! sheesh...if it was lost....

M

That is toy love! I bet Mark feels like that kid riding the Ultraman coin-op.....
"Hot vinyl would be poured into the top and the whole unit would be spun around, forcing the vinyl towards the sides. Than the head would be pulled out of the mold. "

thats sounds kinda sexy mark. ;) haha
Ok....someone turn the hose on Josh, please?
;)
Oh man, that made my day !!!

geez, that does sound nasty doesn't it ??? Perhpas should be in toy porn section....

I should have known a toyboxdx'er would have found that...but it's usually Matt Alt ;-)

The kid in the ride is my son, so in a genetic/Karmic way it is me in the ride....

This new Bandai sofubi looks just like the suit from the movie and is 100% gay.

uh...I always thot of Jet Jaguar as kind of asexual...

A Jumbo Jet Jaguar WOULD ROCK!!!

There is nothign wrong with Jet jaguar, it was the movie he was in. I'm taking my 68 Goji, along with JJ and a 70's Mechagoji and I am going to display them as the all new Vinyl 6 inch Neo Shogun Warriors. I may even include Revoltech Getter 1, Mazinger, and Gaiking for old timesake.

Why is the Jet jaguar design so cool. He was part of a design a hero contest Toho held to create a super hero that would help Godzilla in his next film. This was the late 60's and early 70's, The Super Robot was KING. That kid obviously found influence in those GREAT designs and thus JJ has such an awesome look. He is essentially a super robot and if you look at his black eyes, they appear to look more like windshields then just robot eyes. You can totally imagine this guy being piloted by a lone hero or a sentai team.

I haven't read both pages of this thread yet, so someone may already have mentioned this...

Bandai is releasing an all Red and a White Medical-Style JJ as part of the re-issue Godzilla Island 6 inch figures that are going to tie into the DVD release of that series.

If I am not mistaken, I believe Zonefighter started either that same year or the very next. Godzilla V Megalon definately came first, however, because it was that Megalon Goji suit that is used in all of Godzilla's Zonefighter appearences.

Thread necromancy!! Three year old topics are fun!
That's fine with me. I can't really contribute much when you guys are talking about new Hyper-Real, Super translucent, Dourogundam type gx575.

So, its nice to have a cool Godzilla toy/character thread.

GREAT BIG SOFUBI LOVE!

That looks great. Except for the pink mouth, that is a little weird. but, maybe he likes gum.

-Ray

GREAT BIG SOFUBI LOVE!
Thanks Ray. Actually, the mouth is painted with a metallic color-shift paint called Interference Blue which depending on the angle of the reflected light changes from a pinkish-blue to a golden color. The effect is much more visible in person and is hard to photograph well. And it is referred to as his "Colgate smile" on Robot Japan!

A better sense of the cool effect of different interference color-shift paint colors can be seen on J.B.'s other commission, the KaijuZoo Y-MSF Glow Hedorah:

Nice, John! For a second, I thought that was mine, and I was going to correct you (my name is "JP" not "JB"). But I see this is a non-glowie. Wow. Looks almost exactly like mine.

Now that you have the process down, I'd like a small army of 200-300 Jet Jaguar custom glowies.....

^_^

Hiya Jape,
Yeah thx, like I'd be lucky enough to have 1 or 2 more of your extremely hard to find glowie Jet Jag, let alone 200-300 !! For those not seeing the earlier threads, here's what Jape's glowie Jet Jaguar looks like.

Getta Dragun? Where?

That Getter 1 rocks! I have that FLOSR along with the Getter Dragon and Shin Getter 1... a trio of Getter glowies, glowing with Getter Sen would really rock!

What is the cost of a job like that?

If you are interested in a KaijuZoo paint job, I am a long time customer of the seller (bushnell), perhaps you could have Lea mail it directly to me to save a bit on shipping.

Many thx for your compliment! My basic rate is a quite reasonable $17/hr. The Getter 1, with all the extra time for the masking and multiple thin paint layers (to achieve the variable color density) ended up at around 13 hours. If you'd like a KaijuZoo glowie TRIUMVIRATE of these figures, please let me know!

Wow...there's a glowie FLOSR Dragon and Shin Getter 1??? Those'd be fantastic with KaijuZoo paint jobs!

I wish they'd do a glowie Getter 2 and 3 to go with my 1, though...

No, I meant *I* have all three of those FLOSR... and was imagining all of them given this glow in the dark treatment.
Sanjeev (Admin)
Ah, got it...

And speaking of JJ, any new news on S7's clear'un?

More Jet Jaguar weirdness from Bandai.

Anyone have a clue what they were shooting for here? Nevertheless, I dig em!

Actually, I believe Ray already pointed it out - but those JJs are from Godzilla Island.
Thanks for the info, Gcrush. This would explain the tags having "action" shots of the toys.
Super7 Jet Jaguar has arrived:

I completely forgot all about this. Unfortunately it took so long for it to come out that I stopped caring, too. Man, I'm glad there wasn't a pre-order for it!

There wasn't, was there?

I know I'm a philistine for saying it, but I don't care about it because, well....it's damn ugly.

I dig some of the clear figures. And I dig some of the stuffed, tinsely figures. But this guy with the clear parts and the hard-colored parts and the pipe cleaners.....eh. I'm grateful, though, since I'm broke. ;-)

Go away for a while and see what happens!

Wow...that's really different...

I figured it'd have the correct JJ colors--just that the "metal" parts would be clear. I miss the blue and gold.
