Gordian got pushed back to Late Jan according to Hobby Search:

I found some pictures I've never seen before on an Italian site from some convention in November:

Even though couldn't pull off their regular pricing for just one. Plus the swapping cockpit pod gimmick was only used explicitly by Gai and Akito. They're probably going to release a 3 piece set for Hikaru, Izumi, and Ryoko's machines. I gotta say the execution of these toys is a underwhelming. Where's the launching wire guided punch gimmick or the Aerial frame's weird pole arm weapon?

Well judging by the price and size of the screws (where's my Yotsuba or cigarette pack for scale) these are roughly the same size as their Mospeada toys. So about 12cm. It seems kind of strange they're so small, is there like a rule that Aestivalis figures have to be tiny? Even Kotobukiya's new kits are smaller than a 1/144th Gundam.

Ok so I can't find a pic of the old kit next to a gundam so let's use the transitive property. The Kotobukiya Aestivalis are in the center. HGUC Gundam and old 1/48 kit on the outside.

How many good things have they made? It seems like they've made just as many disappointments as real winners. Sometimes I wonder what they really want to do. I guess the answer is: everything they can.

And that's the thing. Maybe they need to take their time and refine their sculpts before release.

I asked if I have "Time For L-Gaim" but I got "No Reply From The Wind".

I got the CM's Aestivalis set today... overall I'd say they aren't bad, but they aren't all that good, either. They have an overall sloppy look and feel that doesn't wear well considering that I KNOW CM's can make better stuff than this.
They're pretty solid and heavy little buggers, though. Much heavier than you'd think given their size. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who doesn't have the advantage of nostalgia goggles for the Aestivalis design, though.

Aw, wow, yeah, the old-school face sculpt is so much better. The first photos of CM's Gordian gave me major doubts but it looks better and better every time. I wonder if it's the same size as SOC Baikanfu...
So does the limited edition come with both heads, or just the variant head?

Looks like the first version is out. The box is not very inspiring.

Totally agree. But looking at how they love to repaint their premium gokins, this is certainly not an impossibility.
That said, when I see the comparisons with the Godaikin version, I can't help thinking that the Godaikin looks better and strangely, more modern. The saving grace of the CM's is probably the pseudo-poseability.
What really irks me about this toy is why they can't be bothered to give the smallest (blue) robot hip joints when they're charging this kind of price. I pay less for an SOC Baikanfu and I get so much more. Jeez. Talk about half-assed.
That said, I never owned the Godaikin, been wanting one for a long time.. so I might just get this if I can get one at a good price.

I see what you mean - as I see it, what makes the vintage toy so classic is how it puts its undisguised gimmickry on display front and center - with the thick latticework of silver over black in the arms, and the way the joints line up, and all. In contrast, the new toy seems to be HIDING its nesting-doll gimmick under a smooth exterior consisting of matte expanses of solid color. The way the middle inner robot is slimmed down to achieve this hiding effect, particularly in the arms, is also quite unattractive.
