So I got the massively discounted Devilfish from HLJ, and I think I might pick up the other Eureka 7 mechs in the future. The Devilfishie was larger than I expected. Very poseable and detailed, although they could have included a stand, as it falls over without the refboard due to the massive backpack. One thing the instruction don't mention and that isn't shown on the box either is that the cockpit opens: some tugging on the canopy reveals the innards.

After watching THIS monstrosity open a can of whup-ass on some Zeon remnants, I suddenly have to have it. OF COURSE it's a web exclusive.
Thanks Bandai!

It's an ugly mish mash of Byalant, the Gabthley's grapler arms from it's MA mode and a couple of fuel tanks with some high output thrusters slapped on the back.
Like an Albatross, it looks completely ridiculous on the ground yet flies like a banshee and rains hot death from above.

So... Ka Signature is a subline of Robot Damashii for Katoki redesigns? That's kinda cool I guess, though I don't know if I- HOLY SHIT, BOLINOAK SAMAAN!!!!!!
Thomas, if this is the photo you mean:
On the top is the Vic Viper from Zone of the Enders 2, which transforms.
At bottom left is the Jehuty from the Zone of the Enders series, which does not transform.
Both are non-scale model kits from Kotobukiya.
Bottom right is a 1/144 scale kit, also from Kotobukiya, of the R-Gray 1 from Raystorm, which also does not transform.

Dang... I hated Seed, but Buster was a decent design on its own. But no, I'm not going to buy one ;) I do need to finally check out at least one RD, tho.

Yeah, the anime colors of the Helmine are more of a tan than that yellow.
Why do Heavy Metals have hands, anyway, when most of them just use arm mounted guns? Why not just mount the lazer swordz on their arms too, and cut out the hands entirely?

because then they wouldn't be able to plug enormous stereo cables into their crotches

Late to the party, I know, but I've gotten the Robot Spirits bug. I did a review of the new Hardpoint Zaku II, which is the best Zaku figure ever:

EDIT: Derp, JoshB totally reviewed this guy back when it came out. I'll repost my thoughts on PRS tonight.

Sorry for the confusion, here's the review hosted over on PRS:

Paul, to answer your question, no, there's no notch. There IS a bit of a pad molded on, which butts up against the shoulder and that corner pretty nicely tho:

Gouf Custom review is up... the design always causes some arguments, but it makes for a hell of an action figure.

'Jeev, that's a totally different design. Like, all the detailing is different. I don't think it really makes sense to repaint the Gouf Custom as the original anime Gouf.
Do you have the Extended MSIA Gouf? Really, the only thing a RD could do to improve on it would be using a somewhat larger amount of hard plastic.

I have that. Seems like the most important improvement of the RD over MSIA is that they have actual movable skirt armor. Otherwise it's still a good figure.
And yes, the last of the line did use more ABS plastic.

Sure, it's obviously a different design, but I'm not sure Bandai's gonna throw down and make a bunch of OYW mecha in this line. So as a compromise, I figure a dark blue repaint (with gun-hand add-on) would be a good way to get more value out of the existing mold...

I actually do!
The weird stiff PVC used on it is kinda off-putting though...so like you said, more ABS would be appreciated.

The gun hand is lame and makes no sense. The wrist-mounted three-barrel MG is much cooler, and leaves the Gouf with two free hands for weapons. The figure is a blast, tho. I'd probably pick up a darker colored Custom AND a OYW Gouf. And the MSigloo version.
The only EMSIA I had was the first release Zaku II, and I hated it. Very gummy and floppy with soft, crappy details. Actually, I might have the Zeta somewhere as well, and think that was even worse. I cannot wait for the RS line to get to Zeta and 0083, and to expand further on the 08th Team line. I really need some good Ground Type GMs in my life. Last night I suggested to Andrew a whole GM subline, and he laughed at me.

I think my violent reaction to the idea of a navy-blue Gouf Custom serving in the Gouf's stead is mostly lingering resentment over the HGUC Gouf, which is really frustratingly Katoki-ized to the point where it looks right at home next to a Gouf Custom... and out of place next to other anime-styled HGUC kits.

Yeah, I like that thing a lot. It's weird, though, how it seems to have a removable magazine with a handle on it, and yet no version of the Gouf Custom makes that into an actual replaceable accessory with spares.

Yeahhh that ain't happening :3
Note that Gundam FIX spawned a whole Zeon sub-line, but very few GM variants.
