Looking good
I wonder if they will ever re-issue regular Ozma with the new neck. I assume it will have the improvements if it does come out, because the previous-re-issues had the modifications in the back plate for the Luca release.
Let me know if you want to get rid of your regular Ozma, I've been contemplating getting one to display in fighter mode sans armor.

Anyone picked up the 1/72 Armored Ozma kit yet?
It looks friggin' AWESOME, even without any paint apps!
[d.hatena.ne.jp]
I'm now a proud owner of this kit - just picked it up yesterday because I just can't wait for the DX version any longer (I WILL still buy it, though). Moreover, on this one, I get an endoskeleton whereas you can't strip the armor down to that level. I just need to find reasons to justify this purchase. Heheh.
Now if I can only find time to fix this guy - I've 4 MG & 1 PG Gundam(s) that need fixing up. Looks like they'll have to wait, I'm gonna do Ozma up first! Will post a short rumble once I'm done.

Nice, a 1/60 Gamlin! And they threw in a Valkyrie too.

There's a pic in this month's ToyFare magazine. Looks just like the Yamato anniversary Valks.

Ah, so that's where the auction pic came from. It'd be nice if Toynami would release some decent info, so I can try to get a friend to find me one. (Like that damn V.I.N.Cent vinyl, where the designers are talking it up but no one's saying who'll be selling it for sure, quantity, or price... grrr...)

Well, Ray, I don't mean to sound like a snarky bastich, but if it's a Toynami toy, wouldn't it be...at Toynami's booth at Comic Con??? ;)
As for the V.I.N.Cent vinyl, it's by MINDstyle...so it should be at MINDstyle's booth there.

Yeah, but I'd like a price ya snarky bastich ya!

That, I wasn't so certain about, since they do a lot of contract work for other companies like Disney, etc. Again, a price would be nice for us hobos who need to pinch pennies.

I like how you insinuate that the VF-22 can be repainted into the VF-1. All Veritechs really do look alike.

:P
Got confused...thought drifand was referring to the VF-1's!
Okay, yes, all Valks are really starting to look the same to me and blend into one gooey blob in my brain. How about this: a toy company comes out with a Valk toy design that doesn't require a PhD and/or a 45-minute committment to transform it?
edit: oh, Ray...thought you were asking where to get those toys! Man, 0 for 2 on the post! ;) But, hey, you *did* say you wanted your friend to "find" you one!
I'm guessing the V.I.N.Cent will be pricey. It's gonna be fucking huge, I believe. Some 12"? Not a great sign as the prices of their larger offerings are usually over $100 (judging by the rest of the shit on their site). Still, I just can't imagine this thing being THAT limited...why put in ALL the effort of obtaining the license and producing such a large/costy thing if you're NOT gonna take full advantage of the built-in fanbase..?

Agreed. Wholeheartedly.
Sorry, Andrew, nothing is ever going to make me like the VF-25 design. It's sleek and spindly...like *every* other mecha design that comes out these days. The VF-1 was unique for its time and STILL stands up, solid and timeless.
I think of it like the original RX-78 (from the cartoon...NOT the Katoki-ish crap that comes out now) versus...I dunno...some throw-away stuff from Seed or whatever the latest G-spoo is...

I read this, and I got thinking how much I want CMs or somebody to make one of these things. [www.robotechresearch.com] Which only made me sad because it'll never happen. Sanjeev, you made me so sad I nearly cried. You're such a cad.
Seriously. I want one. Badly. Small, agile, built for low speed close support, stationary engine block, simple transformation. I love that design.

Totally, dude. I love the Logan...and that Veritech Attack 'Copter thingie (AJACS or something???). It's not like it would be impossible to make toys *actually* child-suitable...it's just that no one's gonna. I guess CM's, Bandai, Yamato, etc., can make much more money catering to those into the hyper-realistic stuff even if it's super-delicate and takes a whole evening to transform (read: "re-pose for display").
Andrew, I'm just trying to keep you down! ;)

I made videos of those two designs a while back.
Rogan.
Auroran.
Honestly Sanjeev, the Auroran's transformation will make you pull your hair since the entire chest place is suspended on a tiny swing arm during the transformation. The situation with merchandise of Southern Cross in Japan is somewhat of a reverse of the Macross situation in America. Big West owns the merchandising rights (that's why all the kits have Big West stickers) and who knows how willing they are to authorize toys for a Tatsunoko show.

I really like CM's Legioss & Tread and their Mugen Calibur. (Some of my favorite flavors of hand-candy of late.) They feel like genuine playthings to me. Quick to transform and no fuss about fragile bits.
On the other hand, I feel no draw toward the Yamato valks or the Bandai Frontier stuff.

Actually, for a toy the chest plate wouldn't need to be on a swing arm at all. Some time ago, I worked out how an perfect transformation Auroran figure could work for a guy on Macrossworld. Its not exactly what is seen on the show, but neither are Yamatos VF-1 toys. I'll have to dig out the drawings and post them.
