I inquired with the designer, and he asked that the image from MWF not be reposted anywhere else, since there is - as always in this hobby - a chance that it won't make it to retail.

He says that the image was just to show that the work wasn't being done in CAD or copied from an existing toy or kit. He noted that there isn't likely to be any more images of the Glaug until it is officially part of the Toynami 'catalog'.

Like releasing a helium balloon into a tornado. Good luck with that.[/]

How would posting a picture of a toy people are interested in do anything but promote it? He's one of the brain trusts at Toynami, do doubt.
Can you really not understand the sort of ill will that can result of revealing a toy and then never actually releasing it?

Well, thanks to Paul, the cat's outta the bag!! :P

I like it!

...Though I'm not sure how that shot proves that it's not done in CAD. Most toy development starts with a basic sculpt, then it gets cast and recast into multiple iterations where material is either added or removed to refine the final product. The initial basic sculpt could easily have been rapid-prototyped, and what's shown in the pic is an in-progress shot of some refinement. Just saying...
Yeah sorry I guess a mod can delete the file from my post on the last page if it's that important, but in a situation like this, they really should say "please don't repost this file elsewhere" when it's originally posted.

Sanjeev, it seems pretty clear to me from that photo that he's using the time-honored method of scratchbuilding where one cuts out sheet-styrene silhouettes of each part from various angles, glues them together, and then fills in the complex curves between with putty. It just looks like styrene buildups to me, not a rapid-prototyped piece or recast of such that's been sanded down and puttied.

Uhm.... nope. Can't. Sorry! ;)

So far the sculpt looks great.

Don't forget: Toynami also has the GBPS Armored Valkyrie sets that they premiered a couple of years ago, and which have more-or-less disappeared much to many collectors' dismay (my own included). The articulated 1/100 Regult seemed to have been doomed to the same fate when it suddenly appeared revised into a vinyl toy.
Sanjeev (Admin)
Tease!

Okay, so do those pics imply that Yamato IS making an articulated Regult?

Ngee Khiong's blog says it's an HDP kit like the SDF-1.

Don't worry. At 39,900円, it will be 1/5th the cost of the SDF-1. :l

Sorry...I think this was mentioned earlier, too. I didn't put it together that those pics were of the "HDP kit".

Anyway, much like the SDF-1, I'm sure it'll get shrunk down and mass produced at some point...
What ees thees?

Macrossworld does not list it, and YJ is empty... any ideas, mates?

Wasn't that the model? If it's a Robot Damashii then that's so bought.

I asked if I have "Time For L-Gaim" but I got "No Reply From The Wind".

I think that's my favorite MacF Valk yet.
Brilliant. Thanks, Hellequin!
Dang. I was hoping it was a DX Chogokin VF-25.
Sanjeev (Admin)
Very cool...but I'm just hoping the Yamato 1/60 comes with them...
Ha ha ha, Silly Sanjeev. Your innocence is cute, you little scamp.
Version 2.0 might have it, but I wouldn't hold your breath...
Sanjeev (Admin)
Oh, but I'm good at holding my breath! I don't even have a Yamato 2.0 Valk yet!

I'm holding out for the Yamato 3.0, so I know it's compatible with Vista and Adobe CS6.
Hopefully that one will not require any shoulder patches like the earlier versions...

Well, if I gotta wait for the 2.0 to get the boosters... :P

And, really, Ray...Vista???

Not for me, but for those poor unfortunates afflicted with it...
SD vf-25: [ngeekhiong.blogspot.com]

I like the look, but I wonder if it would be fiddly and loose in bot mode.
Sanjeev (Admin)
That's lovely. The best part is that the big SD head actually integrates into the fighter mode and doesn't have to be removed.
Oh YEAHHH. That squashed little fighter is amazing. Not too much crap on the battroid mode's back, too. I wonder if it can gerwalk?

Beautiful. How big is this thing? Comparable in size to the old Hi Comical Valks?

Thanks, Ken-A

EDIT: Gah! Sounds tiny:

Huh...didn't know peaugh did non-TF reviews. Cool!

Anyway, that looked great! Definitely want one...though I'll probably hold out for a different Valk version. Or should I say, "Veritech"? :P

The only thing I found weird was that all the stand adapter bits for the different modes are white. Shouldn't they be black to match the stand? Oh, and it woulda been nice if the fighter could attach to the stand with the gunpod mounted as well...

Awesome...and no stand!

Just a little acetone for those dumb printings, and you're good! Wonder how sturdy the thing is, though...

Andrew, you getting one of these?
