Time to Procure a Valkyrie

I got a VF-1J super in the 1/60v2 line. I really do like. The quality was surprising for a Yamato toy, and it was made out of better materials that the 1/48 line. As for the Macross Frontier, I'm only gonna get the 4 non-super 1/72 kits. Maybe a Vf-100's VF-25 if they don't suck.

This would probably look better if I had photoshop.
For reference.
Oddly enough the kit's instructions had a Strike Cannon. Although I think it came with both types of right booster.

Is that head right on the VF-1D? Seems too stretched and should be wider.
I might sell one of my Yamato 1/60 VF's (the old ones). I'm thinking of getting one of the Macross Frontier DX instead.

I asked if I have "Time For L-Gaim" but I got "No Reply From The Wind".

I love it that "Proportion" is a feature. Looks ok, need some clearer photos.

The next DX is likely to be Ozma's Armored VF-25.

I just hope the armor isn't a mail-in item and isn't incredibly expensive...

The button eyes are a cute touch.

I'm impressed by the anime-esque sculpt of Yamato's GNU-Dou Valks. Too bad they fucked them up with stupid movie style hands.

Funny how Yamato doesn't mind doing a $500 SDF-1 but dropped the Destoid Monster which was to be $300. Really, how many otaku there would even have the room for any of those?
Now a reissue of the old Takatoku SDF-1, that'd I'd support.

His comments:
- 1/100 scale means the valk is rather small - comparable to most 1/144 HG models
- All plastic construction; feels like Robot Tamashii quality
- 2 types of gunpod are provided for open/closed modes
- Lack of transformation mechanisms gives slightly better range of motion
- Cockpit seems to show an un-occupied Ex-Gear suit(!)
- He likes the gerwalk, which uses a separate set of joints for hips & shoulders
Overall, it's the choice of those who don't want to build the model and find the price too high what the DX offers. It's good enough for playing while looking pretty fine in all modes.

I think they said the same on MW *cue panic over there about possible mold changes and incompatibilities between the new and the old Ozma Valk*

I think it looks damn good and the assortment of Valkyries lends itself quite well to line devoted to them. The price helps keep them affordable to more fans, and those fans (usually) tend to be more forgiving of the occasional part-swapping as a trade-off for the scale and price.
I'll be buying quite a few of these in the future. Since Bandai and Toynami are in bed now, maybe those 1/100 Regults will have some company as well.
EDIT:
Scratch that, I just saw how much these are. Twice as much as they should be. I'll maybe get a few when they get around to stuff that doesn't have a comparable toy or model of it, like the VF2.

I think not. Bigwest is apparently being an arse about Bandai and Toynami cooperating on releasing Macross items in the USA.
Bigwest = sore losers.

I'm glad to see that in the collector's photos we've seen so far, nothing seems to be bent to hell. I was worried about the head cannons and gun-pod. I'll definitely be adding the 1/100 25s to my Frontier stuff.
For those who are interested in the model line. Lunca's RVF-25 kit just came out. Also the stand alone Fast-pack armor came out too. Hobby Search

Saw the 1/100 today during my lunch break. It's fine as an action figure in the mold of Robot Tamashii although the PRICE gives one pause. In local money, it's 78 SGD for a plastic action figure... but then again the insane prices for the Off-Shoot DXs should have been enough warning. I'm sticking with the overpriced DX Chogokins, thank you.
