It probly is, I've seen some painted pictures floating around.
Between the 1/60 toy and the 1/72 model, I have to say my money's on the model.

The model is out. It actually has hinges you have to pin through. Has there even been a Gundam model with hinges like that?

There are hinges with metal axles.
Damn look at that assembly, almost master grade level!

I'm failing to see the metal, however that kit is looking fantastic.. Its great there is no part swapping, except for the landing gear, which is i think the only downside, which is unfortunate because some previous veritech kits could had it implemented.
Now to wait for the 'chogokin' version to come out and compare..

Awesome, just got the HLJ shipping notice. As quick as their service had been lately I should have it middle of next week.
I'm not too bummed about the landing gear. I'm just glad Bandai has really stepped up the non-Gundam model kit engineering.

Maybe this will open up a new Macross model line for Bandai. But Given the lack of attention to the R3, and the Votoms line, Bandai will probley just spit out a few more 25's and call it quits. Man would it be nice to have an affordable well engineered Valkyrie line.
I'm still holding onto a glimmer of hope for a Macross Quarter kit.

Sweet...congrats on the purchase!
...But, uh...since I'm not about to register on MW just to see your review, could you at least post the images here? I can read the text at that link, but their site won't let me see the pics...
(not that I haven't spent days on-end drooling over this toy ever since Jetfire when I was a kid...but I just love any new pics of the original 1/55 valk!)

Thanks for reposting the pics, man!
I honestly forget what the plastic tray was like in the reissue run from several years ago. You say the new tray's better, but why is that? Your pic of the new tray is consistent with what I remember of the last reissue run.
In other words, I want my fucking styrofoam.
Anyway, I always wondered why someone couldn't just come up with some sort of arm clip that could hold the gunpod in fighter mode...

The cardboard is thicker, making it less of a pain in the ass to put the packaging back together.

...and that would also clip onto the arm armor.

Link to pictures showing what bits will be diecast on 1/60 VF-25 (note: prototype shown has badly assembled bits and probably also misses parts):

Also scans from the latest Hobby Japan shamelessly ripped from MW attached.

I got my VF-25 kit today. I should have some pics of it by Monday.
This thing is sold out everywhere.

It's not really discontinued, that's just HLJ's way of saying they don't expect to get anymore. Still Ozuma's VF-25s is on the way, and the VF-25g will be next. Theres high hopes for Lunca's RVF-25.

I don't know what he's doing wrong, but mine doesn't have the difficulty with the upper body going over the nose like that. True mine's not finished, but the nose section has the bulk of the transformation.
My biggest complaint so far, is that some of the labels don't fit right.
