It's true. Bandai will be releasing an original "metallic" color variation of the SOC Getta One at the show. It's the first time a variation has ever been released in the US first, so this marks a watershed moment in the Soul of Chogokin series.

Look for it (and a lot more info about upcoming US Soul of Chogokin releases) at Toynami's booth at SDCC.

U.S. SOC Releases?

I asked if I have "Time For L-Gaim" but I got "No Reply From The Wind".

What does Tamashii mean? Why not just call it Bandai Nation?

Anyway, on the JP version of the site it looks like they may be re-releasing the original GA-09 Reideen, though I can't read the text of course.

It means soul, AKA what you sold years ago for that mint condition Elintseeker.

Are they going to be handing out vouchers, doing it first come first serve, splitting it up among the days of the convention, or what?

Nice to see, too bad it's just a repaint, and on old one at that. I guess they picked it for the whole Force Five connection. Although I never heard of Force Five until a few years ago. It wasn't here in SoCal, just Macron 1 and Tranzor Z made it before Voltron took off. It seemed to be more a New England thing, but then living there, you should deserve something to offset the crappiness of your location.

I wonder if Bandai knows that.

Well, at risk of getting the hate piled on me for not seeing only the 'sunny' side...

It seems like business as usual for Bandai, once again going into the old playbook, this time merging 1984 (Godaikin) with 1992 planwise,

If they wanted to hit it off with the Comic Con crowd, the most LOGICAL thing would have been use figures that could tie to Shogun Warriors histroy i.e. make a special plated Getta Dragon, not Getta One.

They don't know what they're doing in the US, and this effort, even trying to cover themselves by using Toynami instead of Diamond to expand past the comic market, is doomed to fail, because they aren't serious about making a long term committment to make it happen.

"OH, shut up you naysayer! It's going to be great! there's lots of plans! Just wait! They've got an AMERICAN running the thing this time!"

Eh, sure, whatever. Still waiting to see that English Tamashii Web site updated...

Is having large English name on the box part of the US offensive?

Offensive to who? Giant magnetic combining robots?

Well, at least its not in Engrish. I thought they did that to be cool, like a j-pop artist singing in Engrish and Japanese. Is that really the front of the box? What happened to the blown-up/faded out montage of the robot in action/dynamic pose? Just finished the series last night, I think I want it.

"the US offensive" = their effort to enter US market...

Derr. Teach me to read without having a coffee first.

I have high hopes for that chunk of English beneath Jeeg's name.

It's like the box is yelling at me.

KOUTETSUSHIN JEEG!

Hmm, too bad they can't slip a pair of gloves in there so that, I too, can smash my fists together.

But then I'd want a helmet too, and then a bike that changed into Jeeg's head...oh nevermind.
