Tamashii Web is GO!
Posted by: MattAlt (Moderator)

[english.tamashii.jp]

Bandai's launched an English language site for their Soul of Chogokin and other "high target" collectible toy lines. They were also kind enough to invite yours truly to write a (very brief) history of Popy and the Chogokin for the site. Check it out if you get a chance!

Hey matt, I had heard in patcics podcast that you are localizing the B-Club website. Are you doing both, or did you say B-Club by accident at the time?

So, with this website in place and Bandai trying to make an appeal to the English speaking market-does that mean that they HAVE been listening all this time?

or at least, they WILL be peeking in on Toybox to see what we care?

Will they finally listen when we stamp our petulant feet and make tantrums about wanting a Danguard Ace SOC? :-)

ARE YOU LISTENING BANDAI???!!

Or a VF-1D in the Origin of Valkyrie reissue line?

Congrats, Matt!

Now that you're in bed with Bandai, Matt, please ask them why I don't have a diecast Dom or Brain Condor yet.

Oh, and wear a condom.

Right around the ten minute mark Patrick says "the B club" I guess he was just referring to Bandai in general and not B-Club itself

" I had heard in patcics podcast that you are localizing the B-Club website."

You sure 'bout dat? I'm pretty sure we were discussing the Bandai Tamashii site. I don't know of any plans to localize the B-Club one.

I assume it's just going to be deals such as this, which can be ported over to other sites (that's a pretty disposable URL they've created..why not tamashii.eng.jp or some such?), but you're not going to get to generate the English for LaLaBit or the Bandai Visual/Emotion stuff, huh?

No sense taunting the gaijin that much...

But massive congrats for getting the gig! Would have been even better 4 years ago but who asks me, right? :)

Thanks! But I gotta ask. What was so special about four years ago...?

Oh, well, 4 years ago, there was an infrastructure in the US on the retail level that could support Bandai's plans, where the English Tamashii site could lead to sales at the B&M level and not just the (suspected but not yet emplaced) web sales...

I mean, you and I know these things aren't isolated. There's supposed to be a PLAN, right? :)

I also note that about 20% of the Japanese site isn't ported over. But there's time for that, yes. If there's an English entry to the forums...oh, man, they are SO not ready for that...

As a friend of mine says: "hey, the checks clear, that's the important thing" :)

Righto. Anyway, it's been a fun experience. Did you know that Popy's name was based on the words "hope" and "happiness"? I didn't.

To hear most folks pronounce it, I thought it was more of a heroin thang.

Better than "poopy," I suppose. And if you happen to see this Matt Alt guy, remind him about that five bucks he owes me.

*shrug*

I'd just like to see it, ya know, updated. Like the Japanese site, which seems to have almost daily content. And those missing sections mirrored.

Well, fuck that guy...but "Logan"? Do you mean "Lodan"? Didn't he lose his mind or something??

...Either way, we should definitely start an internet rumor about him...

I think Lord Sartorious has been doing female cosplay at conventions. I wish I was making this up but I did post a picture I stumbled upon online and was sure it was him. Nobody commented though so here it is again:

So what is the chance of Bandai opening a English+international shipping version of Tamashii web store so we can get these new limited release directly?
