Shin SOC News Thread (untouched by the unwashed)

I have the Dygenguar/Aussenseiter SOC that was distributed by Toynami... all they did was put a little sticker that had some information in English along with the Toynami logo on the back of the box. The big Bandai logo on the front was still there.
That being said, it's been a while since I've seen a SOC in Diamond Previews...

HA! I was so thinking about the same thing!
That said, I wonder why this didn't go SPEC instead. Wonder how much diecast it'll have. Seems we get lighter on diecast with every new SOC release. I'll probably buy him regardless. I'm still thanking God they're not releasing all 3 in a giftset exclusively. That would be nice (maybe as an option after all 3 are released individually), but it'll certainly kill me.

I feel like they should've released all SIX of the SoC Tobikage elements in separate packages. I'd imagine some fans would want three folding-up Tobikages to go with each of the power-up animal friends, and others just want the Action Tobikage and Zerokage. Maybe Bandai worried that would limit sales of the larger and more expensive animal friends in favor of the smaller and cheaper star robots. The same might be true if they included a folding-up Tobikage with each animal friend and made the 'Action' robots separate... but one of those methods would seem like the more logical way to do it.
I'm curious how each of the currently planned sets will sell compared to the others, though I don't expect to ever find out real numbers. Obviously anyone who doesn't buy all three gets kinda screwed, but they get screwed in a very different way depending on which set/sets they choose.

Bandai has measured and charted precisely the hole inside yourself that you fill with robot toys, and they design each product to partially fill that hole, leaving a smaller hole, still shaped like a brand-new Bandai robot toy, a hole that itches twice as bad, but only when you think about it.

Bird guy from Tobikage and the action version.
But what's with that Mazinger? Looks like all they changed was having gold bands.

I asked if I have "Time For L-Gaim" but I got "No Reply From The Wind".

That's the manga colour version of Mazinger. And its PRETTY. Oh god do I want that. IIRC it's limited to only 100. :(

OK, this is getting crazy and really starting to piss me off. What the hell, Bandai? You hire a guy from Mattel to run your company or something?
All this does is piss off the fans and closes the 'circle' of the buying public even tighter. Pretty soon the only people buying the toys are going to be scalpers who hope to 'flip' them for quick profit. And NONE of that extra money goes to Bandai.
AArrggggh.

Did the CEO of Aoshima get a job at Bandai? There's like ten versions of the same mold!
Hey, I'm all for more Mazingers AS LONG AS they are not the same figure just painted a different color. And come on... a Go Nagai's museum excluve... well couldn't they at least change the head to make it look like Nagai's Manga version instead of the new Shin Mazinger, which was not even designed by Go Nagai, but Ken Ishikawa instead. Jeez!!!

I got the heads-up on this about a month ago, it is going to be VERY VERY cool.
However, it's Megahouse, that means trading figure, which means it'll probably be around 9000 Yen for the full box. Maybe more.
Remember that sweet 'build-a-Yamato' from a few years back? Yeah, it's like that. The protos I saw had floor pieces, I hope they didn't cut that out to save costs, you kind of NEED the raised platform for Capt. Okita's station.

Some Mazinkaiser SKL info/new image nabbed from the infamous dannychoo:
[mazin-go.com]
"The docking vehicle is called the Skull Pileder.
The big sword is called Gazantou (fang slash sword).
The chest emblem resembles Devilman's head.
The titular robot will have a "Violence Mood". A berserk mode and a reference to Violence Jack?"
Also as you can see in the image the chest pieces can be removed to become guns.

Maz SKL having handguns is kind of weird and awkward.
And, yeah, it looks like a "Chogokin New Series" is starting up, with Mazinger and Alteisen. I have to wonder at how this toyline will be distinguished from SoC, Spec, the regular GE-## series, AND the oddball numberless chogokin they release every so often...
