Are you on drugs? That is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. If they wanted to do stupid things like that, they could've created a new Super Robot, like Gainax did with Gurren Lagann.

Anyway, if they were actually to make a new Mazinger that could transform simply enough (i.e., no ridiculous parts-swapping and whatnot) into a convincing-looking Rocket Punch (or better yet, Iron Cutter), that'd be fucking bitchin'!
And I also like the new chunky Groizer...but why's he shown at all? Is he expected to show up in the new cartoon? Shee-it...Groizer in a Mazinger cartoon...and still no word of a new Grendizer...

While not keen on the Giant Rocket Punch idea, it's not a dealbreaker for me.
As to Grendizer, I seem to recall that Go Nagai had said he wanted to do a new Mazinger series that would be a 'grand unifier' of ALL his robot shows, so this just might be that. Transforming the Boss Borot into Groizer X is amazing, but the question is, how far can they go with only 26 episodes? Will we see God Mazinger (if there's dinosaurs to be bit, God Mazinger is there!) show up in the background? How about Govarian? Jeeg? Liger?
It's just they might show up in surprising, unusual ways...

When I first saw this Mazinger SOC scan I thought it looked like the body of the OVA Mazinger Z with the head of the GX01R. I pre-ordered it anyway, since Mazinger Z introduced me to the world of Super Robots back in the '70s, but I have to agree that the transformation idea is whacky. I mean, it seems to fall in line with the crazy ideas you see in anime re-tellings of classic characters, but Mazinger Z was already loaded with weapons on just about every body part on the robot. I think his nose was the only thing that didn't really do anything. I would have rather had snap-on clear parts mimicking the 'rust hurricane' attack or the 'Koushiryoku Beam' attack (a la Neo Getter Robo toy that came with its plastic lightning).
This SOC is going straight to my Mazinger Z shelf in my collection, but I still much prefer the more stylized "classic" Mazinger Z design from the original anime.

How come Gridman never gets any love? If we can see that hideous massive robo-horsey set, why can't we get a set with Servo (sorry, I'm a SHSSS kid) Drago and Zenon that all transform and combine... that's be amazing!

My pants got a little tight just looking at that Big-O silhouette. Makes me think about the line of MSiA-ish figures Bandai showed years ago (but never produced). Of the diecast Max Factory one that never made it out (or am I dreaming that?). Either way, Robot Spirit or SOC, I'm not believing anything until I have one in my hands.

I have the impression this is going to be another dual item like SoC Raideen was. You can buy just Tekkaman Blade by himself, or you can buy the DX version for LOTS MORE and get Pegas, and likely there'll be stuff exclusive to each set making you need to buy both.
But it's interesting, given the size and all, this kinda sorta feels like the unreleased Pegas kit from back in '92. It was shown but never got made, the line being killed rather quickly (but some things continued by B-Club as expensive resin kits)

Based on the 'hint' silhouette of pegas with the chamber hatch open, i wonder if they'll include a poseable D-boy (microman grade)?
