Toy budget is non-existant for me, but I might try to get this guy, because he's cheap and really looks nice.

Ha! "Cleatus"...never knew he had a name...let alone had enough of a following to warrant a friggin' toy! I never really get a chance to catch games on Fox because they only cover NFC (I'm a Pats fan--AFC)...but I have seen this guy before.
What would be funny is if you could swap out his head for other players to give them cyborg bodies! Seriously, if it weren't for his knee injury yesterday, I'd really think LT was a friggin' cyborg!
Oh, by the way, shouldn't this thread be on the OT?

Yes, it should. ;-)
I think they had a naming contest right as the toy first came out. "Cleatus" was universally bemoaned by the toy crowds. Heh.
Just saw the toy in person at TRU. Everyone who bought it has praised it, and in-person I can tell you it is large and heavy. Didn't buy it, but it sure was tempting.

I have to say...I like it. It'd look good next to my 70's diecast NCAA football player. Go Pack go!

This... THING gets made but we have to wait over 10 years for halfway decent Appleseed toys? :-)
But seriously, as someone who doesn't watch much TV, and thus haven't had a chance to see Cleatus's antics - inane or otherwise - the design is plenty detailed and has a definite 'mecha appeal'.

The funny thing is that sportsfans absolutely hate this robot, but me, I keep saying that robots are the only thing that makes this stuff watchable!
I'm still trying to get one from my local TRU since they are really cheap and this is such a rare gem. Anyways, come on mods, don't move this cool robo to OT. It's one of the most original robot toys to be posted on this part of the boards in months. ;)

Well, as a "sportsfan", I couldn't care less about Cleatus. Sure, the toy seems nice enough...I suppose...if you're into that sort of thing. Hey, $17 for a boring-colored sorta-robot toy is still a great value.

Wait, so you're saying that you watch 3-hour-long NFC games just to catch glimpses of that silly cg robot in the corner of the screen during game stoppages when the play-by-play banter needs some graphics to go along with it. I dunno--that just seems really weird to me.

Here we go again. ;)

If a guy who (presumably) is into robot toys *and* football doesn't like robots during football, I guess there's no hope.
Anyways, I was saying in jest that maybe if football had more neat cgi robots on screen it wouldn't be so absolutely boring. Actually that wasn't in jest. However, if *I* took everything anyone on this board said as sincere and tried to logically pull it apart each time, I'd run out of e-breath after a day or two.

The day I started posting on this board, all hope was lost for me. ;)
Nah, I was more exasperated at the fact that supposed "sportsfans" would even notice the robot graphic at all...let alone, enough to "absolutely hate" it. There's plenty of shit (for a "sportsfan", anyway) to pay attention to in a football game for someone to be wasting time on a silly graphic in the corner of the screen.
And there's plenty more to complain about in terms of televised football games--game stoppages ALL the fucking time for commercials? Oh man...bane of my existence.
And I wouldn't worry about my nit-picking your posts--I was just poking snarky fun at your poking of football! The only thing that actually bothers me is the idea that the OT is somehow inferior to the Invincible board...but I assumed you were just joking about that anyway!
